Synopsis
The Flying Cyprián will be a feature-length movie inspired by a real historical person – a hermit who lived in Červený Kláštor (The Red Monastery) located in the Slovak-Polish border region.
The times of Cyprián’s life were characterised by social and cultural changes that were taking place in the entire Europe, and which did not avoid the Kingdom of Hungary. In our story, Cyprián is an unusual man, but also a man of flesh and bones, one that suffers, loves, struggles with pain and rejoices in happiness, a man in quest for himself and his place in that new emerging world. His story is very emotional, but first and foremost still relevant, especially for the Central European countries. In those times of European enlightenment, an inhabitant of the the-then Kingdom of Hungary (in Slovak called “Uhorsko”) would have a different position than today. But just like Cyprián and all his contemporaries were looking for their place in the newly born world, striving to do well in their own eyes, so did the Central European countries try to define their roles for history, as well for the days to come. We unwaveringly believe that our history, experience, knowledge – all that we have been through – has meaning and immense value for an individual, for Europe, for the world. We have an unfaltering faith in the necessity of our movie, in its usefulness for the audience.
